Wednesday night, September 4, 2013, on a live one-hour This is Hell! beginning at 9PM (US central) on Chicago’s Sound Experiment, WNUR 89.3 FM, live online here, and podcast shortly after at this site…

Your bitter blind broke gap toothed radio show host Chuck Mertz interviews…

The New Yorker staff writer Sarah Stillman wrote the recent articles, “Taken: Under civil forfeiture, Americans who haven’t been charged with wrongdoing can be stripped of their cash, cars, and even homes. Is that all we’re losing?,” and “SWAT-Team Nation.” Sarah is a visiting scholar at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. Her recent work has received the National Magazine Award, the Michael Kelly Award for the “fearless pursuit and expression of truth,” the Overseas Press Club’s Joe & Laurie Dine Award for International Human Rights Reporting, and the Hillman Prize for Magazine Journalism. She taught a seminar on the Iraq war at Yale, and also ran a creative writing workshop for four years at Cheshire Correctional Institute, a maximum-security men’s prison in Connecticut. Sarah also writes such a great bio at her site that we couldn’t help but steal it entirely, that is, except for the first and last sentences.

Producing Wednesday’s show will be Alex Jerri.
