  • Lewis Lapham is editor of Lapham’s Quarterly and the former editor of Harper’s Magazine, Lewis is the author of, most recently, “Pretensions to Empire: Notes on the Criminal Folly of the Bush Administration” (New Press). This week, Lewis posted the Lapham’s Quarterly article, “The Great White Whale in San Francisco Bay: Or How the ‘Lively Arts’ Became ‘the Media’,” at TomDispatch.
  • Paul Rogers is professor of peace studies at Bradford University, northern England. Paul is a weekly columnist on global security at openDemocracy.net, the most recent column being, “America and Israel: a historic choice.” He also writes an international security monthly briefing for the Oxford Research Group. His latest book is “Why We’re Losing the War on Terror” (Polity) which focuses on the post-9/11 era and explains why a new security paradigm is needed. Paul has been called, “one of the world’s leading security experts.” Also, look for the third edition of his 2002, “Losing Control: Global Security in the 21st Century” (Pluto Press).
  • independent journalist Dahr Jamail is the author of “The Will to Resist: Soldiers Who Refuse to Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan,” and “Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq.” Dahr’s most recent writing includes this week’s “Operation Enduring Occupation” and “The New ‘Forgotten’ War.”
  • economist Robin Hahnel is Professor Emeritus at American University in Washington, DC. Robin is the author of “Economics Justice and Democracy” (Routledge). An interview with Robin at The New Left Project, has been turned into a three-part series at ZNet. The three parts are entitled, in order, “A Guide through the Economic Crisis,” “The Economic Crisis and the Failure of Obama,” and “The Economic Crisis and the Left.”
