- live from London, Peter Hallward professor of Modern European Philosophy at Middlesex University and author of 2008′s “Damming the Flood: Haiti, Aristide, and the Politics of Containment” (Verso Books). This week, Peter wrote the Guardian story, “Our role in Haiti’s plight.”
- journalist Robert Parry, whose work can be found at ConsortiumNews.com. In 1984, Bob won the prestigious Polk Award for National Reporting by breaking many of the Iran-Contra stories for Newsweek and The Associated Press. His recent columns include, “Haiti and America’s Historic Debt,” “Lessons from America’s Lost Decade,” and “Hard Lessons from Decades Past.”
- Mark Weisbrot is co-director with past This is Hell! guest Dean Baker at the Center for Economic and Policy Research. Mark’s recent writing includes, “Top Ten Ways You Can Tell Which Side The United States Government is On With Regard to the Military Coup in Honduras” and “Media Battles in Latin America Not About ‘Free Speech’.”
- Mark Ames is a writer for eXiledonline and the author of 2005′s “Going Postal: Rage, Murder, and Rebellion: From Reagan’s Workplaces to Clinton’s Columbine and Beyond” (Soft Skull). Mark’s recent articles include, “Are Obama and Geithner the Twins from Hell?” and “Blood Sucking Freaks; The Rightwing Billionaires at Cerberus Capital Literally Suck Blood from the Poor.”
- Juan Cole is the Richard P. Mitchell Professor of History at the University of Michigan. Juan’s most recent book is last year’s “Engaging the Muslim World” (Palgrave). Juan writes at his critically-acclaimed blog, the Informed Comment. Juan’s writing there this week included the post, “Could the Pakistani Government Fall over Karachi Violence? What would it Mean for Obama’s War on al-Qaeda?”
