  • Don Peck is a deputy managing editor of The Atlantic. Don’s article, “How a New Jobless Era Will Transform America,” appears in the March issue.
  • Mike Marqusee is an American writer who emigrated to Britain in 1971. Mike writes Level Playing Field, a column on politics and culture for The Hindu Sunday magazine, one of India’s largest circulation English language publications, and Contending for the Living for Red Pepper. His most recent column is entitled, “Politics and ‘the art of the possible’.” The paperback version of his book, “If I Am Not for Myself: Journey of an Anti-Zionist Jew” (Verso) has just been released. In 2005, Mike was named an Honorary Faculty Fellow by the University of Brighton in recognition of his “contribution to the development of a critically-based form of journalistic scholarship in the social, cultural and political nature of contemporary global sport.”
  • Dr. Gareth Porter is an investigative historian and journalist on US national security policy. Dr. Porter is the author of, most recently, “Perils of Dominance: Imbalance of Power and the Road to War in Vietnam.” (University of California Press). He has written regularly for Inter Press Service on US policy toward Iraq and Iran since 2005. Gareth was both a Vietnam specialist and an anti-war activist during the Vietnam War and was Co-Director of Indochina Resource Center in Washington. He taught international studies at City College of New York and American University. He was the first Academic Director for Peace and Conflict Resolution in the Washington Semester program at American University. His most recent writing includes, “Taliban Regime Pressed bin Laden on anti-U.S. Terror,” “Peace Talks May Follow Ex-Taliban Mediators’ Plan,” “US, Karzai Clash on Unconditional Talks with Taliban,” “Behind Cautious Signal, a Decision for Afghan Peace Talks,” and “Iran Uses Fear of Covert Nuclear Sites to Deter Attack.”
  • Norman Solomon is a nationally syndicated columnist on media and politics, writing the weekly “Media Beat” column since 1992. His latest book is “Made Love, Got War: Close Encounters with America’s Warfare State.” Norman is the founder and executive director of the Institute for Public Accuracy, a national consortium of policy researchers and analysts. He is a past winner of the George Orwell Award for Distinguished Contribution to Honesty and Clarity in Public Language. He is also national co-chair of the Healthcare NOT Warfare campaign. His recent columns include, “Don’t Call it a ‘Defense’ Budget,” and “Democrats Boosting Right-Wing Populism.”
