• Michael Lind is Policy Director of New America‘s Economic Growth Program. Michael’s most recent book is 2005′s “What Lincoln Believed” (Doubleday). He has been an editor or staff writer for The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, and The New Republic. His first three books – 1995′s “The Next American Nation: The New Nationalism and the Fourth American Revolution” (Free Press), 1996′s “Up From Conservatism: Why the Right Is Wrong for America (Free Press), and 1999′s “Vietnam: The Necessary War (Free Press) – were all selected as New York Times Notable Books. His most recent writing includes “The tragedy of Obama,” and “The Clintonites Were Wrong.”
• Simon Schama is Professor of Art History and History at Columbia University. Simon’s books have won the Wolfson Award for History, the W.H Smith Prize for Literature; the National Academy of Arts and Letters Award for Literature. His 2007 book, “Rough Crossings: Britain, the Slaves and the American Revolution” (Ecco Press) won the Critics’ Circle Award for Non-Fiction. His most recent book is last year’s “America’s Future: A History” (Ecco Press). He has been an essayist and critic for The New Yorker since 1994, his art criticism winning the National Magazine Award in 1996. His television work for the BBC and PBS as writer-presenter includes the award-winning, Emmy-nominated “A History of Britain”; a ninety minute adaptation of “Rough Crossings,” and the eight-part “Power of Art.” Last year, Simon became a contributing editor at Financial Times. His most recent writing there includes, “Why Obama should play to populism.”
• Dean Baker is co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. Dean writes the Beat the Press blog at the American Prospect. Last year, Dean wrote the book, “Plunder and Blunder: The Rise and Fall of the Bubble Economy.” (PoliPointPress). His latest book, “False Profits: Recovering from the Bubble Economy” (PoliPointPress) will be available for purchase in ePub & .mobi formats, as well as in the Kindle Store, beginning February 15th. His recent writing at The Guardianincludes, “Extend bank tax to do the business.”
• investigative journalist Greg Palast is the author of the New York Times bestsellers “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy” and “Armed Madhouse.” Greg’s recently released DVD is called, “Palast Investigates: From 8-Mile to the Amazon,” which focuses on the trail of the financial marauders. The DVD is a compilation three Palast reports on BBC Newsnight, none of which have been broadcast on American television.
