• Daniel Halperin is co-author with The Washington Post’s Craig Timberg of, “Tinderbox: How the West Sparked the AIDS Epidemic and How the World Can Finally Overcome it,” (Penguin) to be released Monday, March 5. Daniel an epidemiologist and medical anthropologist at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill has taught at Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley. He was a top technical adviser in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program to combat AIDS.

• Campbell Craig teaches international politics at Aberystwyth University in Wales. Craig is co-author with Fredrik Logevall of the 2010 book, “America’s Cold War: The Politics of Insecurity” (Harvard University Press). His most recent writing is the London Review of Books piece, “Who’s in, who’s out?,” on the nonproliferation complex, which he wrote with Jan Ruzicka.

• Suzanne Mettler is author of “The Submerged State: How Invisible Government Policies Undermine American Democracy” (The University of Chicago Press). Suzanne is the Clinton Rossiter Professor of American Institutions at Cornell University. Her earlier book, “Soldiers to Citizens: The G.I. Bill and the Making of the Greatest Generation,” (Oxford University Press) won both the 2006 Greenstone Prize and the Kammerer Award of the American Political Science Association.

• Julia Whitty is the author of, “Deep Blue Home: An Intimate Ecology of Our Wild Ocean,” (Mariner Books) which was named ­’Best Nonfiction of 2010′ by the Washington Post. She is also author of, “Fragile Edge: Diving and Other Adventures in the South Pacific,” (Mariner Books) which was a winner of the John Burroughs Medal and Pen-USA Literary Award.
