As former UN chief Kofi Annan heads to Russia and China to figure out a solution, the Syrian military continued shelling the rebel-held city of Homs. Meanwhile, the current UN chief, Ban Ki-Moon is urging North Korea not to launch a missile test that will threaten ‘regional peace.’ In other Axis of Evil news, “very clear negligence” by Iraqi security forces has led to an Iraqi prison breakout, including escapes by death row inmates and Al Qaeda suspects. Speaking of Al Qaeda suspects, there’s no evidence the French gunmen had any links to Al Qaeda. Some are even saying that the French shooter could have been stopped if police had not abandoned traditional investigative techniques that were scrapped after 9/11. But a real threat to democracy has come to fruition in Mali. The military coup overthrowing Mali’s  20-year democracy has turned into an orgy of looting by soldiers. There’s also been another deadly Egyptian football protest. While we commit violence against one another, Al Jazeera gives us stunning photographic evidence that the ‘Rainforests are the world’s oldest living ecosystem and its destruction is threatening wildlife the world over.’ Violence against each other, destruction of the planet, and in the UK, there’s now an attack on children’s education. In England, antiabortion campaigners are taking to the schools, teaching children false or misleading information about parental planning.
